This policy explains what information Maat Astro (maatastro.com, “we”) handles when you use the site, why we handle it, and what choices you have. Our contact details are at the end of this page.
Summary
- There are no user accounts and no payments.
- The site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads (see Advertising below). We do not set cookies ourselves.
- We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, a cookie-free service from our hosting provider (see Analytics below).
- We never send what you type anywhere, except the text of a place search, which goes to our server only to suggest matching places.
- We do not sell personal information.
Tarot readings
Any question you type in a tarot reading stays in your browser tab. We never send it anywhere, store it or add it to the page address. The cards are also shuffled and drawn in your browser.
Natal chart
Your name (optional), date and time of birth, and place of birth are used to calculate the chart in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored, either on your device or on our servers.
To suggest matching places as you type, the text of your place search is sent to our server. We use it only to answer that search; we do not store it, write it to logs or share it. The list of places comes from our own copy of GeoNames data, so no request is made to GeoNames. If you enter coordinates yourself, we do not send them anywhere.
Technical data and security
As with any website, our hosting provider processes technical data when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. This is needed to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and the provider may keep this data in short-term logs under its own policy.
Our place search also uses your IP address to limit how many searches one visitor can make. The address is held briefly in server memory only. It is not written to disk or to logs, and it is discarded automatically.
We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited, so we can improve the site. It does not use cookies. For each page view, Vercel may record the time, the page address, the referring site, an approximate location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and device type. To tell visits apart, Vercel creates a hash from the request; it is not stored permanently and is discarded after 24 hours. We see only aggregated statistics.
Page addresses on this site never include your birth details or tarot questions, so neither is ever sent to analytics. Vercel describes the service in its Web Analytics privacy documentation.
Advertising
The site shows ads from Google AdSense, which helps keep it free. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. Google's ad code runs on our pages and receives technical data such as your IP address and the address of the page you are viewing.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ad Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services on its partner sites page.
Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice later.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (United States), which acts as our service provider. Technical data may therefore be processed in the United States and in other countries where Vercel operates. You can read how Vercel handles data in its privacy policy.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not keep personal information from the features described above, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve, but you are welcome to write to us with any question or request. For data used for advertising, you can also contact Google directly or use the settings linked above.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
